Long Term Exposure to Air Pollution Increases Cardiovascular Disease and Death in Women:
Long term exposure to the fine particulate matter in air pollution increases the incidence of cardiovascular disease and death in postmenopausal women. The increased risk applied to both fatal and nonfatal coronary artery disease and stroke. Each 10µg per cubic meter increase in fine particulate matter caused a 24% increase of a cardiovascular event and a 76% increase in death from cardiovascular disease.
