Drew Britcher is a co-founder of Britcher, Leone & Sergio, LLC, and leads the firm’s trial practice, where he focuses on complex medical negligence claims. He has successfully prosecuted and resolved matters totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. In addition, Drew handles other complex personal injury matters. He is certified by the New Jersey State Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney and has been recertified four times, a reflection of his experience, knowledge, and overall trial skills. To date, Drew has tried nearly 100 cases to verdict, and he has served as either counsel of record or amicus counsel in over 40 reported decisions of the United State Supreme Court, the New Jersey Supreme Court and Appellate Division.

A seasoned litigator and courtroom veteran, Drew is known as a senior statesman among New Jersey’s trial bar and is highly regarded by clients, adversaries, and the bench alike. He is particularly known in legal circles for leveraging visual tools as part of his trial strategy for both settlement purposes and presentations to juries. While he has achieved meaningful success in securing verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients, Drew places even greater value on his ability to help change the lives of his clients.

Throughout his career, Drew has earned accolades that reflect this commitment to his clients: He was selected to theLawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers for 2020 and 2022-24, as well as theLawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America in 2008.

He has also been selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 10 list of attorneys for the 10th time in 2024 making him one of only seven attorneys to achieve this honor 10 times. He is also one of only nine lawyers named to the Top 100 for the last 19 consecutive years and has been recognized by Super Lawyers since the inception of the magazine 20 years ago. Most notably, he is the only medical malpractice lawyer in New Jersey to achieve this accomplishment.

Since 2021,Best Lawyers in America© also recognized Drew for his work in Medical Malpractice Law-Plaintiffs, and he is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Most recently, NJBiz named him as a 2024 “Leaders in Law” honoree. Drew was presented the “Above and Beyond Award” from the American Association for Justice in 2017, the Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and 2020, and earned similar awards from its predecessor, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, in 2009 and 2004.

Success is not new for Drew; in 1988, at the age of 28, he obtained a million-dollar verdict in his first jury trial, making him, at the time, the youngest lawyer to win a million-dollar verdict – for which he later was recognized with the “Professional Achievement Award” from the New Jersey Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. In 2018, Lawyer Monthly also recognized him as “Lawyer of the Year – USA” in its Legal Awards’ Medical Negligence category.

He is a Past-President of the New Jersey Association for Justice, formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America-New Jersey Chapter (ATLA-NJ), and he has served as Chairperson of its Amicus and Medical Malpractice Committees for over a two decades. He has also served as a Member of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee of the American Association for Justice.

Drew helped draft the language of New Jersey’s Patients First and Patient Safety Acts, and he is an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law, where he teaches courses in Medical Malpractice Law and Medical Malpractice Litigation.

Drew was a founding member of the Board of Trial Lawyers Care, an organization established to provide free legal representation to victims and their families of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, and under his leadership, the firm represented more than a dozen families and individuals before the program on a pro bono basis. He has also been active in development efforts for the Interfaith Food Pantry, YCS Foundation, the Morris County Youth Shelter, and the Jersey Battered Women’s Service. A soccer player for 50 years, Drew was a member of the New Jersey/New York Host Committee for World Cup ’94.
